Welcome to Oslo, for the 40^th annual meeting of EEMS!

For the first time, the EEMS annual meeting will take place in Norway, from Wednesday September 15 to Saturday 18, 2010. Also for the first time, EEMS will hold a joint symposium with the Society for Free Radical Research (conference web site www.congrex.no/sfrr), which will hold its annual meeting earlier in the same week.

Sessions in the EEMS meeting will include: Epigenetics; Cancer susceptibility with focus on children; Biobanks and biomonitoring; Ecotoxicology, climate and the environment; Systems biology; Regulatory toxicology; Nanotoxicology; Biological effects of electromagnetic radiation; Male germ cell mutagenesis and reproductive toxicology; Inflammation and apoptosis; Nutritional genotoxicology.

The theme of the joint symposium with SFRR (on September 15) will be DNA Repair, which is of obvious interest to members of both societies.

Other topics to be covered by the SFRR meeting are: Oxidative stress, free radicals and the environment; Cell signalling and reactive oxygen; Free radicals and aging; DNA oxidation after ESCODD; Minerals and trace elements; Phytochemicals and oxidative stress; Oxidative stress and metabolic syndrome.
